L’Oréal, the French cosmetics and fragrance giant, moves up five places, from # 15 last year, to join the Top 10 for the first time. The company reportedly receives an order every two seconds, and its supply chain network is responsible for managing 150 distribution centers that deliver more than 7 billion products to half a million destinations every year. As Gartner’s analysts explain, L’Oreal’s supply chain proficiency can be credited to its customer-centric mindset, as the company has the aim of becoming and remaining their customers’ preferred partner. The supply chain is also key to the company’s ability to offer customized products throughout multiple distribution channels. L’Oreal has also deployed inventory-taking drones at one of its logistics hubs in France, which has greatly reduced the annual audit process while improving the safety of its warehousing staff.
