Project Octopus: HELP Course on Cybercrime and Electronic Evidence and the new Additional Protocol to the Convention on Cybercrime to be presented at the HELP Network Conference 2022

Between 30 June and 1 July 2022, the Council of Europe’s HELP program (Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals) will hold its 2022 HELP Network Annual Conference in Strasbourg, France and online.

Mainly aimed at Judicial schools and bars in all Council of Europe member states and beyond, as well as representatives of international partner organizations working on the training of legal professionals, the Conference will be fully streamed online and is open to everyone interested in the work of the HELP program of the Council of Europe and in HELP online course.

The Conference is organized under the auspices of the Irish Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe and will be opened by the Irish Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth , the Director General of Human Rights and Rule of Law of the Council of Europe and the Ambassador and Head of the EU Delegation to the Council of Europe.

In addition, a keynote address will be given by Judge Tim Eicke, of the European Court of Human Rights.

This year, the Conference will also include a special thematic session on the Council of Europe’s response to the war in Ukraine.

On the first day of the conference, the new HELP course on cybercrime and electronic evidence will be presented. This course has been jointly developed by the Cybercrime Program Office (C-PROC) and the Human Rights Education Program for Legal Professionals (HELP) of the Council of Europe, with the support of the [email protected] and the Octopus follow-up project, funded by voluntary contributions. The joint EU-CoE projects GLACY+ and CyberEast also contributed to the development of this course.

The Second Additional Protocol to the Convention on Cybercrime on enhanced cooperation and disclosure of electronic evidence, which was recently opened for signature, will also be briefly presented.
