CASPER, Wyo.– Junior U.S. Senator from Wyoming, Cynthia Lummis, announced she is appointing Field Rep. Jackie King as state director in light of the tragic passing of former state senator Leland. Christensen.
King recently served as one of Casper-based Senator Lummis’ field representatives.
“I am honored to serve Senator Lummis and the State of Wyoming in this new position,” King said in the statement. “It’s bittersweet, but Leland wants us all to do what’s right for Wyoming, and that means moving forward in a way that makes him proud. I’ll strive to do that every day in this position.
King is from Casper and attended Casper College, where she studied family law and criminal justice. She began her career in the United States House of Representatives working for Barbara Cubin, Cynthia Lummis and Liz Cheney. She will continue to be based in Senator Lummis’ Casper office as she transitions to her new role as State Director.
“Jackie has been with me through thick and thin,” Senator Lummis said in the statement. “We are all still mourning the loss of our dear friend and colleague Leland Christensen, but I know Jackie will do an amazing job of stepping into his shoes. She truly understands what the people of Wyoming face in their daily lives, and I know she will do whatever she can to help our great state overcome the significant issues we face today.
